<p style="text-align: justify;">Over the past decades, a women&#8217;s work time has increased while time spent doing housework has declined. Modern conveniences such as washing machines, dryers and housekeepers have all helped lessen the housework burden. While liberty from such everyday jobs may appear to be a good thing, it has progressively mechanized a stress-filled society. Today, about 22 percent of adult Americans are active at a level suggested for any significant health benefits, but fewer than 10 percent of adults exercise at an intensity that is adequate to improve cardiovascular fitness. This is where housework can help?</p>

<p style="text-align: justify;">Physical activity is the single most important activity you can do to improve your health.. Even if you don&#8217;t have the time or the money to spend on a fitness club, you can still improve your fitness by engaging in daily activities such as housework. Engaging in any regular activity at all can provide considerable health benefits for those who have deskbound jobs which involve sitting for a large part of the day and who do not partake in any regular physical activity or sports in their spare time time.</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;">Recent research recommends spending at least 60 minutes each day in a &#8220;on your feet&#8221; activity. This type of activity uses the large muscle groups of the legs in walking, stair climbing, gardening or housework. Housework combined with walking the dog, yard work and using stairs can help form a foundation upon which you can build your fitness program. Mopping that floor and scrubbing the tub suddenly takes on a whole new meaning when you consider the benefits of this type of housework.</p>

As a working mum you constantly have to juggle the demands of caring for your family and keeping on top of your work.</p>
<p>Given the multiple demands on your time, it can be easy to neglect your most valuable asset &#8211; your health. To do what you do &#8211; the caring, the sharing, the loving and holding the family together, requires tremendous physical, emotional and spiritual strength.</p>

<p>To help you sustain your level of commitment to your work and dedication to your family it is essential you find a way to care and nourish your inner health.</p>
<p>From personal experience, the practice of yoga and meditation provides me with useful tools to look after myself. As a yoga teacher, yoga students often say how calmer and clearer they feel after a yoga/meditation class.</p>
<p>The following points are the seven essential benefits students often say to me about the effects of meditation on their health</p>

<li>Meditation helps to strengthen the mind: Meditation involves concentrating the mind on a single point of focus. If you are going through an emotional challenging situation, you mind can feel weak and thoughts scattered. The more you practice meditation the easier it becomes for you to regain control of your thoughts and focus your energy on positive outcomes for yourself.</li>
<li>Meditation encourages you to take time to love and care for your inner wellbeing. When you meditate you are still and more able to reconnect with your inner beauty and heart-song. This leads to an enhanced sense of emotional and spiritual wellness.</li>
<li>Meditation promotes effective breathing habits. Most people do not know how to breathe correctly. Part of learning how to meditate involves learning how to breathe properly. Proper breathing helps to cleanse, balance and stimulate the body.</li>
<li>Meditation gives you strength to forgive others and yourself. Meditation allows you to &#8220;go within&#8221; yourself and listen to the quiet voice within your heart. You learn to see the impermanence of life and with time, allow yourself to let go of old emotional baggage and hurt.</li>
<li>Meditation enhances your intuition and sense of curiosity and wonder in the world. As a woman, you are naturally creative and intuitive. The pressures of every-day modern life, often leads you to mistrust and doubt the value of your &#8220;feminine intuition&#8221;. As you deepen your meditation practice you regain this innate gift and ability.</li>
<li>Meditation promotes positive and healthy thoughts. A major benefit of meditation is it allows you to explore your innermost thoughts, memories and dreams. It reconnects you with your inner goodness and light. What you feel inside shows in your attitude and behaviours.</li>
